Impact Over Time Assessment

The Impact Over Time Assessment has various configurable aspects which influence the resulting Impact Score, Maximum Tolerable Period of Disruption (MTPD), Recovery Time Objective (RTO) and Recovery Point Objective (RPO).

Under the General tab of the Config is a section Shared Recovery Config which provides the following configuration options:

Time Scales

Exponuity makes provision for five configurable Time Scales.  Each Time Scale represents a period against which an assessment can be made.

Dimensions

Exponuity allows for defining Dimensions separately for various entities to be assessed e.g. the Dimensions defined for Process can be different to those defined for Business Unit.

Each Dimension is allocated a weighting to represent its relative importance when scoring.  A Dimension can be configured with five Rating values.  Each Rating caries a numerical value between 1 and 5 which is used in calculating the Impact Score.

MTPD Tolerance Level

This value specified is compared to the Aggregate total of Dimensions for the Time Scale.  The system chooses the first Time Scale to exceed the MTPD Tolerance Level value and returns this as the MTPD.  This is overridden by any Time Scale have a Dimension Rating of 4 or greater.

RTO Factor

The RTO Factor is a percentage that is applied to the MTPD to derive a RTO.

Example:

If the MTPD is 10 days and the RTO Factor is 60%, the RPO will be 6 days.

RPO Factor

The RPO Factor is a percentage that is applied to the MTPD to derive a RPO.

Example:

If the MTPD is 1 day and the RPO Factor is 20%, the RPO will be 4 hours and 48 minutes.
